Coordinator’s greeting: four years of TREASoURcE achievements – 28.05.2026

As we reach the end of the TREASoURcE project this month, I am proud to reflect on how far we have come and what we have achieved together. Over the past four years, our consortium has demonstrated that circular economy solutions can be transferred beyond individual pilots and successfully take root across cities, regions, sectors, and communities. Through collaboration across value chains, real-life demonstrations, and a strong focus on replicability and transferability, we have shown that systemic approaches engaging citizens are not only possible but essential for a meaningful transition from a linear to a circular economy.

Our comprehensive work and demonstrations on biobased side stream valorisation, plastics recycling, and second-life EV batteries have provided concrete and scalable models for a wide range of energy, materials, and bioeconomy applications. Through these demos, we have validated technical feasibility, highlighted market relevance, and identified key factors affecting implementation. At the same time, our replication activities, stakeholder engagement, and the publicly available Replication Handbook have created a strong foundation for continued uptake across Europe.

Most importantly, TREASoURcE has demonstrated the impact of collaboration between cities, regions, companies, public authorities, and citizens. The partnerships and tools we have built through the project will continue to support circular solutions long beyond the project’s lifetime. I extend my warmest thanks to all partners for their dedication, creativity, diligent work, and commitment to the circular transition.

Warm regards,

Ugur Kaya, TREASoURcE Project Coordinator
